Montrose BLP Platform, TalismanMichel Jansen
Talisman Sinopec Energy has awarded Heerema, in Zwijndrecht, the contract for the construction of the 8,500 ton Montrose BLP platform intended for the Montrose field in the British sector of the North Sea. The platform will have a length of 75 meters, a width of 44 meters and a height of 40 meters. A (walkway bridge will eventually connect the platform to the existing Montrose Alpha platform.
The platform will probably be one of the largest (if not the largest) platforms ever built in the Netherlands. To give an impression; it is expected that for the E&I work alone, 250,000 man hours will eventually be required. Completion is planned for May 2015.
Several Vageri employees are currently assisting Heerema with the management and supervision of this project. This project also means a reunification for Vageri with the platforms in the Montrose field. In 1989 we built the Living Quarter for the Montrose Alpha platform.
