Riffgat ProjectMichel Jansen
February 2013, another successful Vageri project was completed. At the Hollandia shipyard in Krimpen a/d IJssel a 2.000 ton heavy Transformer Platform was built for the Riffgat Offshore Windmill Park. This Windmill Park is located about 15 km north of the island of Borkum in the German Wadden Sea in a water depth of about 20 meters. It contains 30 wind turbines of 3.6 MW each of which the turbine is installed at a height of 90 meters (!) above sealevel (with the rotor blades in the highest position the total height is 120 meters). On the transformer platform, 108 MW of electrical energy from the wind turbines will be brought together. This capacity is then transformed from 33 kV to 155 kV, after which it is brought to the German Emden via a cable of about 70 km.
Vageri was responsible for the cable routing, pulling, termination as well as the “house installation” (lighting, distribution navigation, meteo) of the platform. The high-voltage and monitoring installation of the platform was created in a very pleasant cooperation by our colleagues from Strukton in Hengelo.
